Online Personal Tax Account - Register Now!


HMRC is encouraging customers to register for a Personal Tax Account if they have not done so already.


The idea of the Personal Tax Account to allow individuals to view their personal tax details in one secure location online, and will also enable you to obtain your State Pension Forecast and check your National Insurance contribution history.


In order to register you will need:


  1. Your National Insurance Number

  2. A recent payslip, P60 or passport

  3. A mobile phone to receive a security access code

There are three simple steps to register:

  1. Go to www.gov.uk/selfassessment to register

  2. Use the activation code which will be posted to you, to gain access to Government Gateway if you do not already have access. A security access code will be sent to your mobile phone which you will need to enter online

  3. You will need to confirm your identity by answering a few simple questions from your payslip, P60 or passport
